Having a major in Sport Management and a minor in Marketing is hands-down the best decision a sport lover could make. Especially when one is looking into the sponsor relations or marketing and sales field for a sport team or venue. While researching internships for these fields it can be realized that there is some major money involved in not only the job position, but the deals and promotions being worked with. These are the right fields for someone who has a passion for sports, marketing and sales because this is the heart and soul of how sport companies and organizations are run. Without the sponsors, marketers and money - there truly is no sport. Being successful at a young adult level, and applying for internships such as the following are great kick starters to an amazing career.
This first internship found during research was with Kraft Sports Group. The title of the internship was "Sponsor Relations", exactly what one interested in this field could be looking for. On the website, it doesn't go into detail on what exactly the intern would be doing specifically for that position but it does state that the marketing department is responsible for all of sales and marketing operations for the New England Patriots, New England Revolution, and Patriots Place. These internships that Kraft Sports Group offers, including the sponsor relations, are offered during the spring, summer and fall semesters. This would be an ideal internship for these specific fields.
The second internship found does not deal with sponsor relations immediately but has a great deal to do with marketing and promotion. It is an internship with the Boston Bruins and the title is "Bruins Foundation Internship". Some of the responsibilities are to assist in daily activities which consists of review and respond to donation requests, respond to local charity requests and so on. This would be right for someone interested in marketing and promotion or sales because a lot of what goes on in this internship would be what to expect to deal with in any job around the mentioned fields. Many of the duties to be performed are similar if not the same. This internship is also available in all three semesters as well.
The last internship found was at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina and is titled "Consumer Marketing and Sales." This directly has to do with the fields that are mentioned throughout the article. In the description it states that this internship is for people who enjoy marketing and advertisement along with people who can multitask and work in fast paced environments which one has to be able to handle to work in these jobs. This internship is available in the fall, summer and spring.
After researching and looking for internships in the fields of sponsor relations or marketing and sales, these three fit the criteria the best. It can be extremely hard to find internships for sponsorship positions as well as marketing and sales right now on the internet not only because the dead lines have passed, but there are scarce sponsorship internships in general because of the seriousness of the job. With certain traits and background in area, internships like this can be an incredible experience.
